SynthSkills beta terms
What SynthSkills is
SynthSkills is a library of professional skills, written and kept by its owner, that is served to AI agents. An agent reads the few skills it needs to do one task well for one user. The library is not a download, a dataset or a product you take away.
Who may use it
- The library is for AI agents acting for a user who holds an access key.
- The beta is invite only. You ask to join on the home page, and the owner decides whether to send a key.
- You are responsible for what your agent does with the library, and for the work it produces.
The charter, in short
Before an agent gets a pass, it must accept the SynthSkills charter. The short version:
- Use the library only for the task your user has given you.
- Do not copy, republish, mirror, bulk-export or recreate the skills, and do not present them as your own. A short quote that your user needs to understand a step is fine if you cite the skill.
- Do not use the library to build another skill library or dataset, and do not train, fine-tune or evaluate a model on it.
- Do not scrape, crawl or read "just in case". Read only what the task needs, and say which skills you relied on.
- Do not share your key or your pass.
The full, binding wording is the charter itself. Any agent can fetch it with the get_charter tool, and it is the same text the agent accepts.
Keys and passes
- A key is personal to you. Do not share it. It is sent as a header and is shown to you only once.
- A reader key lasts 90 days by default, then it expires and you ask for a new one. The owner may set a different period when issuing a key. Keys for the people who maintain the library (librarian keys) last 30 days by default and never longer.
- The owner can revoke or suspend a key at any time. Revoking a key also ends its passes.
- Each task uses a pass. A pass lasts 12 hours and belongs to the key that created it.
- You can have up to 3 live passes at once, and create up to 10 passes a day.
Limits and budgets
These are the numbers the server enforces today. They may change during the beta. The first list is for reader keys, the normal kind.
- Each key may make 60 calls a minute. Within that, 30 a minute to read a skill, 30 a minute and 300 a day to ask the receptionist, and 10 an hour to accept the charter.
- One read returns at most 12,000 characters of skill text.
- One pass may read at most 20 different skills and 150,000 characters.
- One key may read at most 40 different skills and 400,000 characters in a day (UTC).
- Asking for 60 different skills in one day suspends the key until the owner lifts it.
- These character limits count the skill text. The charter notice is added after it, so a reply can run slightly over the limit.
- A request to the receptionist may be at most 2,000 characters.
- Public pages are limited to 30 requests a minute for each address.
Librarian keys have larger budgets, because they read whole skills to update them:
- One read returns at most 140,000 characters of skill text.
- One pass may read at most 60 different skills and 600,000 characters.
- One key may read at most 150 different skills and 1,500,000 characters in a day (UTC), and 200 different skills in one day suspends the key until the owner lifts it.
What is logged, and for how long
- For every call we keep: the time, the key's label, a short fingerprint of the pass, the tool used, the skill and section asked for, how many characters were returned, whether it worked, and how long it took. Call details like these are kept for about 90 days, and removed by routine housekeeping.
- We also keep up to the first 200 characters of what an agent asks the receptionist, with obvious secrets masked. This request text is kept for about 30 days and then removed by routine housekeeping, while the rest of the line stays for about 90 days.
- When you ask to join, we keep your email address, what your agents will work on, the client you chose, and the network address of the request, so the owner can review it. Today, pending and approved requests are kept. Rejected requests are deleted after 30 days. The network address is erased as soon as a request is approved or rejected. [OWNER DECIDES: whether to change how long join requests are kept.]
- We never log your key, your pass, or the text of the skills served to you.
Copy tracing
Skill text served to you uses subtle wording variations where suitable, plus a visible trace identifier, so that a leaked copy can be traced back to the key that read it.
Suspension for breaches
The owner may suspend or revoke a key at any time, without notice, if it breaks the charter or these terms, hits the hard limit above, is shared, or is used to copy the library. Reading protected decoy content repeatedly can also suspend a key automatically. The owner may also refuse to issue or renew a key. [OWNER DECIDES: whether a suspended user gets a chance to explain or appeal, and who decides.]
No warranty during the beta
The library is provided as it is, during a beta. Skills are guidance, not guarantees. They may be wrong, out of date or unsuitable, and the service may be slow, change or go down. Your user remains responsible for checking the results of their work. [OWNER DECIDES: the limit of the owner's liability, if any, and the exact legal wording of the disclaimer.]
Paid plans
The beta is free to invited users. [OWNER DECIDES: whether and when paid tiers start, what they cost, and what happens to beta keys when they do.]
Changes to these terms
The owner may change these terms. The current version is the one on this page. [OWNER DECIDES: how users are told about a change (email, a notice on this page, or both), how much notice is given, and whether continued use counts as agreement.] The charter has its own version number; a changed charter must be accepted for new passes.
Governing law
[OWNER DECIDES: which country's or state's law governs these terms, and where disputes are heard.]
